Colin Johnston

Colin Johnston

Colin Johnston is an accomplished paper supply chain professional, with more than thirty years in the pulp and paper industry. Prior to establishing Colin Johnston Trading Inc., Colin was employed by Resolute Forest Products (formerly AbitibiBowater) and managed annual budgets of $100 million. His responsibilities included the procurement of recovered paper for the Canadian mills, supplying 1.1 million tons annually. His experience includes many years with senior marketing management responsibilities. Colin’s keen organizational abilities in the supervision and coordination of process improvement initiatives and his effective leadership and negotiation skills were key in securing large contracts and the provision of savings to the corporate bottom line. Colin has held the position of Chairman of the Canadian Pulp and Paper Association, Recycling Section, and continues to be a member of the Recycling Council of Ontario. Thor Thorsteinson

Thor Thorsteinson

Thor Thorsteinson has 31 years of operating experience in the forest products industry. Prior to Colin Johnston Trading Inc., Thor was Senior Vice President – International Marketing with one of the largest paper companies in the world, Resolute Forest Products (formerly AbitibiBowater). Thor’s last twenty years were in senior leadership roles including Joint Venture management through a bank restructuring; reporting to the CEO as Senior Vice President of multiple Businesses that included fourteen plants in four countries with $1 billion in sales to over 90 countries; and Board Member roles on Joint Ventures. As Senior Vice President, Thor successfully led the sales, production and people integration of his business responsibility through two mergers and one major acquisition. Thor has extensive experience managing international plants and businesses; greenfield plant design and startups, international paper and pulp sales; integrating companies during mergers and acquisitions; corporate restructuring; recycled material management; and continuous improvement leadership. Thor has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
Andrew Pollock

Andrew Pollock

Andrew Pollock is an expert in municipal waste management and extended producer responsibility programs. He has 30 years of experience in both the private and public sector implementing waste management systems and technologies.

Andrew has been a Director of Waste Services for the Canadian municipalities of Toronto, Peel Region and Niagara Region. In that capacity he was responsible for procuring and overseeing large-scale contracts for collection, processing and disposal services, as well as design-build-operate contracts for recycling and organics processing facilities.

He also served on the Board of Directors of Waste Diversion Ontario, an organization responsible for the approval and oversight of extended producer responsibility programs for consumer packaging and printed paper, used tires, waste electronics and electrical equipment and household hazardous waste.

He holds an MBA degree from the University of Toronto and a BA (Honours) in Economics from Queen’s University.

N. Carlos Garcia

N. Carlos Garcia

N. Carlos Garcia has over 30 years’ experience in strategic planning. He is currently President of NCG International Consultants, a private consulting firm he founded in 1987. The firm specializes in Business Planning and Development, with particular emphasis on the development of comprehensive business plans for new ventures, and for existing operations that lack a planning process and discipline. This firm has developed business plans for organizations such as Major League Baseball Properties, Warner Brothers Studio Stores, Cuddy Foods and the Basketball Hall of Fame. It has also developed business-oriented feasibility studies for major sports, entertainment and commercial centers in Toronto (Skydome), Osaka, Frankfurt, Taipei and Dublin. Carlos holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics, an M.Sc. in Physics and an M.B.A. Prior to founding NCG International, he held senior marketing and management positions in a number of major Canadian companies including John Labatt Limited and Inglis Limited. He has travelled extensively to over 90 countries in 7 continents and is fluent in Spanish.
